Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get my license the day of the trip?

  • Yes! On the morning of your trip, you will most likely meet your guide at a fly shop and they will be able to help you obtain your license. You can also get your license online by visiting Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

Should I bring my own gear?

  • You are welcome to bring your own rods, reels, flies, and any other gear you would like; however, your guide will be able to provide any fishing gear necessary for your trip. All you need to bring is yourself and a positive attitude!

What should I bring?

  • While you’ll be fine wearing anything from jeans and sneakers to looking like you walked out of a Simms commercial, if possible tailor what you wear to the day you’re looking to have. Meaning, if you are hoping to get out of the boat and do some wade fishing, wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet!

  • Montana weather is often unpredictable, so having an extra layer to throw on or take off can help ensure that you are comfortable regardless of what Mother Nature has planned.

What about lunch?

  • Lunches will be provided for all full-day trips, and accommodations can be made for any dietary preferences or allergies given that you let your guide know ahead of time. Boat snacks are provided for both full-day and half-day trips, but feel free to bring any snacks you would like (excluding bananas)!
